  • Immediate feedback: Receive guidance tailored to your needs.

These workshops are accessible and welcoming, whether you are new to end-of-life planning or looking to deepen your existing skills.

Workshop Details and What to Expect

Empowered Pathways is hosting two distinct workshops in April. Each focuses on different areas of growth but shares the goal of helping you unlock your potential.

Workshop 1: Five Wishes - Saturday, April 4, from 6:00-7:00 PM Eastern Time

Aging with Dignity created the Five Wishes as an easy-to-understand advance directive model. It goes beyond medical checkboxes and gets into your personal values, comfort, and how you want to be treated at the end of life. It is legally valid as an advance directive in most states, although specific requirements do vary. The Five Wishes also combine elements from separate documents.

Here's what we'll talk about during the workshop:

  • What the Five Wishes are

  • What each wish involves (including medical treatment, healthcare decisions, comfort, and more)

  • How to get and fill out the Five Wishes document

  • What the Five Wishes might mean to you and your end-of-life planning

  • Next steps forward

You can register for the workshop now by visiting our Workshops page.

Workshop 2: Intro to Florida Advance Directives: Saturday, April 18, 6:00-7:00 PM Eastern Time

Planning ahead is one of the most thoughtful gifts you can give yourself and your loved ones. My one-hour educational workshop, Intro to Florida Advance Directives, will help you understand the essentials of advance care planning in Florida. You’ll learn what advance directives are, the legal requirements, and the practical steps you can take to make sure your healthcare wishes are known and respected. This workshop is designed for anyone curious about planning ahead—whether you’re just starting to explore your options or ready to complete your documents.

By the end of the session, you’ll feel more confident in making decisions for your future care and know exactly what steps to take next.

We'll discuss and learn:

  • What advance directives are and why they matter in the state of Florida

  • The types of Florida advance directives

  • General legal requirements for completing them in Florida

  • Tips for completing the advance directives and communicating your wishes

  • Resources and next steps

Register for the workshop now by visiting our Workshops page.

How to Prepare for the Workshops

To get the most out of these sessions, choose a quiet space for reflection. Have a notebook handy to jot down insights, questions, and action steps. If you have questions about advance directives or end-of-life planning, have them ready. We may have time for a question-and-answer session. If you still have any questions after the workshop, you can always email me for follow up at support@empoweredeol.com.

Who Should Attend

These workshops are ideal for anyone looking to learn more about advance directives or end-of-life planning. Some of our attendees are caring for a loved one, nearing the end of life themselves, or would like to proactively plan their future. Others are learning more about these subjects for professional or educational reasons.

No specific background or situation is required, just a willingness to learn and grow.

What Past Participants Say

Feedback from previous workshops highlights the value of the group format and practical exercises. One participant shared:

"The workshop helped me realize how much I still needed to consider when it comes to the end of my life. Learning more about these tough topics in a safe space gave me the confidence to start writing my documents."

Another noted:

"Breaking my end-of-life concerns into smaller steps made them feel less heavy. The education and strategies kept me more focused when things got tough."

These testimonials show how the workshops create real, lasting change.

How to Register and What to Expect on the Day

Registration is simple and can be done online through the Empowered Pathways website. You will receive a confirmation email once you register. You'll also receive an email with a private Zoom link a few days before the event. Spaces are limited to keep the group intimate and interactive.

On the day of the workshop:

  • Log in a few minutes early to settle in.

  • Have your notebook ready.

I take pride in creating a welcoming atmosphere where everyone feels comfortable learning more about end-of-life planning.

Taking the Next Step After the Workshop

The workshops provide a strong foundation, but growth continues beyond the sessions. To keep momentum:

  • Review your notes and prepare the next steps.

  • Find out what answers you're missing.

  • Reach out to professionals (like an attorney or your physician) if you have specific questions.

Empowered Pathways also offers follow-up resources and support for those who want additional guidance from an end-of-life doula.

Planning your end-of-life needs starts with a single step. These live group workshops in April offer a clear path forward with practical tools, supportive peers, and expert guidance. Take advantage of this opportunity to invest in yourself and create positive change. I hope to see you soon! -Jessica
